Choose your main from our menu of classics and NEW creations, and add a third course for just £5. We’ll open the unlimited prosecco or Pravha, or you can upgrade your experience and get unlimited cocktails for just £5.

Why not come and try our signature cocktail, exclusive to Durham Bar + Block and inspired by The Legend of Dun Cow (so much so, that's the name we gave it!). Local legend states that the city of Durham was founded in 995 AD by divine intervention. Local monks searching for a resting place to bury St Cuthbert met a milkmaid, who in turn was looking for her ‘Dun Cow’. The search led them to Dun Holm, the cow was found and the monks built a settlement, now the location of Durham Castle. We think it’s worth dedicating a drink to that good fortune!
Our location
Located at the heart of the city centre, you’ll find Bar + Block Durham on Freeman’s Place, close to the River Wear and just a 5 minute walk from Durham train station. We’re in the thick of things in Walkergate, with easy parking and convenient access to the Gala Theatre and Cinema, if you’re looking to take in a show. On one side, we’re close to Wharton Park, with spectacular views across the city, and less than 10 minutes walk from the historic Durham Castle and Durham Cathedral on the other side.

Chef’s choice
Our chefs recommend the Dinosaur Short Rib. We take Angus beef rib that’s been matured for 30 days, slow-cook until tender and finish over charcoal for a unique, smoky flavour. Paired with our fresh homemade chimichurri and coal-cooked mini garlic potatoes, this one’s big on flavour! We recommend that you enjoy this dish with a glass of our Vistamar Matinal Merlot. Cheers!
