The Best Steak Restaurant in Bristol Harbourside

The secret is out…if you’re after succulent steaks and delicious cocktails, Bar + Block Steakhouse Bristol is the place to be!

We opened our doors in April 2019 and have been serving up succulent steaks and great grills ever since. We’ve got a pretty sweet spot too, situated just off the harbourside on historic King Street. So we’re the perfect place for a romantic meal, a quick bite before the theatre, a business brunch, or an after work drink. Whatever the occasion, our food and drink is always top-notch. We’re famous for our steaks, all hand cut to order and grilled to perfection by our expert chefs. We’ve also got experienced bartenders ready to shake + stir your cocktail of choice or pour you a wine or beer. There’s always something for everyone. Treat yourself to a meal in our main restaurant with a view of our open kitchen, so you can see our master chefs work their magic. Socialise with friends at the bar or, when the sun is shining, join us outside too for some casual wining-and-dining. Our mezzanine bar area can also be enjoyed during the day to work solo or host a business meeting with easy access to speedy lunch dishes, nibbles and free WiFi. We can also cater for larger parties and groups, just give us a call to discuss your needs with the team.

Our location

You’ll find Bar + Block Steakhouse Bristol on King Street, alongside many historic buildings, including The Old Duke, a public house from the 1780s and Llandoger Trow, which is rumoured to have been the inspiration for Robinson Crusoe and Treasure Island. We’re just a short walk away from Bristol city centre, perfect for a day’s shopping, and the harbourside, which is home to many of Bristol’s most famous sights, including Brunel’s SS Great Britain, We The Curious, M Shed and more. Bar + Block steakhouse is perfectly placed for a meal whether you’re a tourist or a local in Bristol!

Our team

Our team at Bar + Block Steakhouse Bristol look forward to welcoming you and serving up our famous steaks, hand cut to any size and cooked to order. We’re dedicated to providing first class service to all of our guests, and the whole team is passionate and knowledgeable about the food and drink that we serve - so just let us know if you have any questions, we’ll be happy to help and to make recommendations.

Chef’s choice

Our Kitchen team, recommend their favourite steak cut: ribeye. It has a wonderfully rich flavour from the soft fat marbling, and is a beautifully tender cut. We recommend ordering it medium rare, served with our beef dripping chips, peppercorn sauce and a side of our beer-battered onion rings.

Chef’s choice home recipe

Here are some top tips to recreate the magic of our expertly cooked steak at home:

● An hour before you cook, remove the steak from the fridge and allow it to reach room temperature. Rub with oil and add a good pinch of sea salt and black pepper.

● Add your steaks to your pan or barbecue, making sure it’s really hot. Remember to turn half way through cooking so that the meat will caramelise beautifully and evenly, leaving a delicious crust.

● The cooking time will vary depending on how you like your steak cooked - 6 minutes should give you the perfect medium rare.

● Once cooked to your liking, let the steak rest for a couple of minutes before serving with the sides and steak sauce of your choice.

● If you fancy a twist, marinate overnight in blended garlic, parsley and oil to give an added flavour boost.
