How to make our Steak Sandwich!
What you’ll need:
- 100g of your preferred cut of steak
- 2 slices of flatbread
- 1/2 tomato
- 1/2 red onion
- 1 slice of cheddar cheese
- 1 large potato
- 1 large tablespoon of garlic mayo
- Olive oil
- Vegetable oil
- 1 handful of rocket
- A pinch of salt and pepper
Method behind the magic:
Cut your potatoes in to thin sticks and put them in a large bowl, covered with cool water. Soak for at least 20 minutes. This gets rid of excess starch, resulting in fluffier and crispier fries. Drain the potatoes and pat them dry - the drier the better!
Slice your tomato and put to one side. Slice the red onion then fry in 1 tablespoon of olive oil on low heat until soft, stirring occasionally.
Meanwhile, rub your steak with a lug of olive oil and good pinch of salt and pepper. For a medium cooked steak, cook it on a very hot grill or pan for around 1-2 minutes on each side, only turning once.
While your steak is cooking, use a household fryer to cook your potatoes in vegetable oil at 175 degrees. Fry for 2-3 minutes until they are golden then remove, drain of any excess oil and season with salt. Once your steak is cooked, leave it to rest for 1-2 minutes while warming your flatbread under the grill.
Time to plate up! Place your onions, tomato slices and fresh rocket on a slice of flatbread, then top with you steak, Cheddar cheese and garlic mayo. Finish with the other slice of flatbread, place your fries in a bowl to the side and – Voila!
